The conversation is amazing. He wants to spend all of his time with you for 2, maybe 3 weeks, maybe longer. He takes you on exciting and romantic dates. Tells you where his parents got engaged oh so many years ago and suggest that, someday, the two of you might go. You think, “Well, he seems really interested. He wouldn’t tell me about his parents unless he was serious. He’s already told me he wants to have 3 kids and a dog…” You have a lot in common. You talk and text everyday. He’s got the stamp of approval from your friends. You make dinner together. Maybe you sleep with him. (Because you’re right, it doesn’t make you a slut, and sex shouldn’t be a bargaining chip.) Then bam! Suddenly he’s sooo busy with work and can’t go out this week. Or he says he knows himself and his weaknesses and he “just can’t be monogamous.” Or he just stops calling altogether, leaving you wondering what you’ve done wrong…
